RATIONALE
The brief challenges us to create an elegant mood or accent lamp out of used advertising posters. The way i wanted to go about designing the lamp was to only use straight strips which was quite a challenge. The material of the poster can be manipulated in many ways, but i wanted to let the material let form itself which is why i chose to loop the strips. The brief also askes us to make the lamp flat-packable, which was a major factor in considering a design for this project and i beleive i have achieved this goal. My design for this lamp is able to fit in a 42x13x6.5cm box, which will reduce shipping costs and enviromental costs. The design itself is inspired by the form of a cocoon, which is a very natural form. The two layers both illuminate differently, which is what i tried to achieve, and this gives it more depth. Overall my design is very simple and elegant.
Your lamp gives quite cool shape of lights. This makes your lamp looks more meaningful. Slices of paper a bit looks like insects but i think it still works as a lamp. However i think it has too much clips on it. GOOD WORK :)
ReplyDeleteThis lamp design is quite interesting, i really like the concept. I was quite impressed by the shadows that you have created with the design, i also quite like the fact that light shines out in narrow streaks. I felt as though you could have made this light a wall lamp rather than a pendant, i felt it would be better suited against a wall.
ReplyDeleteThis design is very unique in terms of its structure and form. The strips of the lamp lets out sufficient amount of light which creates an interesting form of shadows. To further improve this design, i would suggest to explore different shape that would appeal more aesthetically. Overall, this design is very simplistic and straight to the point.
ReplyDeleteA mimicking shell/clamp like pendant lamp that serves as a lamp and decoration. It tempers the room and give depth in it. It looks cool wether its lit or not. the only thing is that instead of fasteners a built in snap clips.
ReplyDeleteThe design is so great that the shadow is awesome even though the lamp is pretty simple and neat! I love how you made it organic shell-like shape which also looks really relaxed. For improvement, I think you can add more layers or strips. Also, you may adjust the thickness

ReplyDeletethe arced shaped light coming out of it was very interesting . This only change you could make would be to increase the size.
